Biography
Born on 4 July 1986 in Bern / Instrument: saxophone
Musical training: The saxophone player Jonas Tschanz studied at the Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB) and as a young student in the talent promotion class of the Gymnasiums Hofwil/BE. In June 2008, he passed the teaching diploma with distinction under Christian Roellinger at the HKB.
He subsequently passed his Bachelor’s degree (2010) at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of the famous saxophonist Arno Bornkamp, under whom he is currently doing his Master’s studies. He has attended master classes under Claude Delangle (Paris), Vincent David (Versailles), Marcus Weiss (Basel), Lars Mlekusch (Vienna), Jean-Marie Londeix (Bordeaux) and Christian Wirth (Quatuor Habanera) and others.
Musical activities: Jonas Tschanz has already performed as a soloist with the Camerata Schweiz and the Bieler Sinfonieorchester. He also plays in various chamber music formations such as, for example, the Melisma Saxophone Quartet founded in Amsterdam in 2009 or the Konus Quartett from Bern. His chamber music activities have led him to Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria and Spain.
